The "Haiheng" high-performance synthetic-based drilling fluid system with wide-temperature range rheological stability, independently developed by CNOOC, was awarded the OTC New Technology Award at the OTC Brazil Conference on November 3. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in China's deep-sea oil and gas drilling and completion technology. The system boasts exceptional wide-temperature adaptability, maintaining stable flow performance under extreme temperature differentials ranging from -10°C to 180°C while being suitable for operations at depths up to 2,619 meters, successfully overcoming challenges in wellbore stability under complex conditions such as deep subsurface, ultra-deepwater, and extreme cold environments. As the world's only drilling fluid technology achieving such a wide-temperature range rheological stability, "Haiheng" not only set a new record for operational depth in the western Pacific but has also been successfully applied in multiple deepwater projects both domestically and internationally, supporting China's deepest offshore drilling and longest horizontal displacement records. Additionally, it has demonstrated high reliability in overseas markets such as Thailand and Brazil. This award marks the third consecutive time CNOOC has won the OTC Technology Award, reflecting China's international standing in offshore oil and gas engineering technology, having transitioned from "following" to "running alongside" and even partially "leading" in certain areas, contributing the "Chinese solution" and "Chinese wisdom" to the global development of deepwater and deep-layer oil and gas resources.
